Eco-Schools is an international award programme for schools. Eco-Schools can help enhance the curriculum and get the whole school united behind something important. We have now earned our bronze and silver awards and hope to be a Green Flag School very soon.
Our Eco Committee are called “Eco Bugs” and are made up of representatives from each class across key stages 1 and 2. We meet at least once each half term and we are always busy doing energy checks, collecting compost from lunch waste and litter picking each week.
Their mission is to help make every school in the country sustainable and to bring about behaviour change in young people and those connected to them so that good habits learned in schools are followed through into homes and communities.
This year we have taken part in the Clean for the Queen campaign (see photo gallery) and have planted a natural hedge around our growing garden to help biodiversity (see gardening club photo gallery).
Later on in 2016 we are going to have a Waste Water Week across the whole school to look at this essential resource.

As an Eco School we are striving to teach children to become Global citizens where they will take an active part in wanting to make a change in the world.
